Heat pumps

What your heat pump installation in Mallorca includes

A heat pump in Mallorca is worth it if the output is properly calculated: a single unit gives you heating, cooling and hot water. In Spain it costs between €7,000 and €12,000 in a 100 m² home and between €12,000 and €18,000 in a 150 m² house (Selectra, July 2026). If you are resident in the Balearics, the Factor de Insularidad, a Balearic government grant scheme, covers 70% of the eligible cost.

Our heating and air conditioning team works out, installs and services the heat pump in your home, and handles the grant application. We start with the numbers: how much heat your home needs, whether your radiators will do and how much you will pay for electricity.

  • Calculation of the output your home needs, room by room
  • Check of your radiators, underfloor heating or fan coil units
  • Written estimate of your yearly electricity cost
  • Removal of the oil boiler and its tank
  • Outdoor unit, indoor unit and hot water cylinder
  • Final set-up so the backup heaters don't drive up consumption
  • Factor de Insularidad application and proof of work
  • Annual servicing by our team in Palma

Prices 2026

Heat pump prices in Mallorca and what you pay with the grant

Market prices in Spain according to Selectra (July 2026). If you are resident in the Balearics, the Factor de Insularidad covers 70% of the eligible cost: on a €12,000 quote that is fully eligible, the grant would be €8,400 and your final cost €3,600. You pay first and receive the grant after submitting proof of the work.

What affects the price most

  • The output your home needs, given its floor area, insulation and windows
  • Whether your radiators will do, or some need replacing or fan coil units fitting
  • Whether you also want hot water, and the size of the cylinder
  • Removing the oil boiler and its tank
  • Where the outdoor unit goes and how far it is from the house

Step by step

Your heat pump, step by step

First the numbers, then the machine.

Request your heat pump study
  1. Visit and calculation

We look at your home, your radiators and your boiler, and work out the output you need and what you pay today for heating and hot water.

  2. Proposal with your electricity cost

You get the fixed price, the make and model, and a written estimate of what you will pay for electricity each year.

  3. Grant application

If you live in the Balearics, we submit the Factor de Insularidad application as soon as you sign, because it is first come, first served, and tell you when you would be paid.

  4. Installation in 2 to 4 days

We remove the boiler, install the unit in 2 to 4 days and set it up so the electric backup heaters don't kick in unnecessarily.

  5. Proof of work, servicing and guarantee

We prepare the proof of work for the grant and come back every year to service the unit. You have a 5-year guarantee on the installation, on top of the manufacturer's warranty.

What we guarantee

A heat pump with no surprises on your electricity bill

High bills and units that don't heat properly almost always come from a badly calculated output or poor set-up. That is why we do the calculations before we sell you anything.

  • Output calculated, not guessed

We calculate with your home's data: floor area, orientation, insulation and windows. So you don't pay for a 16 kW unit where a 12 kW one would do.

  • Your electricity cost, before you sign

We tell you in writing how much you will pay for electricity each year with the heat pump, compared with what you spend today on heating oil, gas or electricity.

  • Cooling and heating from one unit

With underfloor heating or fan coil units, the same machine heats in winter, cools in summer and makes your hot water.

  • Designed with your neighbours in mind

We choose with you where the outdoor unit goes, on anti-vibration mounts and away from bedrooms and windows.

  • We handle the grant

If you live in the Balearics, we prepare the Factor de Insularidad application and the proof of work. Before you sign, we tell you how much you will need to pay up front.

  • With solar panels, even less from the grid

If you have a roof, we combine the heat pump with solar panels in Mallorca so the unit runs on your own electricity during the day.

Good to know

70% grant for heat pumps in the Balearics: requirements and deadlines

The Factor de Insularidad 2026‑2027 from the Govern (the Balearic government) subsidises heat pumps for private individuals resident in the Balearics. This is worth knowing before you sign.

How much and for whom

70% of the eligible cost, up to €25,000 per installation, for people resident in the Balearic Islands. It covers the unit and new radiators, underfloor heating or fan coil units, even if it is only for hot water. Air-to-air air conditioning is not included.

Deadline and order of receipt

Applications from 9 July 2026 to 28 February 2027, or until the budget for the call runs out: €4.1 million for all the programmes together. They are decided in order of receipt: the sooner you apply, the better.

You pay first, then get paid

The grant is paid once the installation is finished and the work has been documented. For private individuals, work from 1 January 2026 counts, but you are only paid if there is budget left when your application comes in. If the Govern does not reply within six months, the application is deemed refused.

Heating oil: what the law says

Since 1 January 2025, heating installations that come into service in the Balearics cannot use heating oil. In a private home, a boiler that already works can stay. In detached, terraced or semi-detached houses let to tourists, and in hotels, tourist apartments and agroturismos, it has to be replaced by 1 May 2030, unless this is shown to be technically impossible. If you are thinking of replacing it, we explain your options at the visit.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about heat pumps in Mallorca

Can't find your question? Message us on WhatsApp and we will answer in Spanish, German or English.

How much does a heat pump cost for a 100, 150 or 200 m² home?
According to Selectra (July 2026), a heat pump in Spain costs between €7,000 and €12,000 in a 100 m² home for heating and hot water, between €12,000 and €18,000 in a 150 m² house and between €17,000 and €22,000 in a 200 m² one. If you are resident in the Balearics, the Factor de Insularidad, a Balearic government grant scheme, covers 70% of the eligible cost. We give you your fixed price after the visit.
How much electricity does a heat pump use, and how much will my bill go up?
It depends on the house, the insulation and, above all, the set-up. Bills that shoot up usually come from badly sized units or from electric backup heaters that kick in unnecessarily. That is why, before you sign, we give you a written estimate of your yearly electricity cost and, when we finish, we leave the unit set up for your home.
Does a heat pump work with my existing radiators?
Sometimes. A heat pump works best with water at a low temperature, so small radiators may fall short on cold days. At the visit we measure your radiators and tell you whether they are enough, or whether it is worth replacing some or fitting fan coil units. The Factor de Insularidad grant also covers new radiators, underfloor heating or fan coil units.
Heat pump or air conditioning? Does a heat pump cool as well?
Yes, it also cools if you have underfloor heating or fan coil units. If you want heating, cooling and hot water, a heat pump does it with a single unit and qualifies for a 70% grant if you live in the Balearics. If you are only worried about the summer heat in a flat, air conditioning in Palma de Mallorca with a heat pump function is simpler, but there is no regional grant for it.
Can I replace my oil boiler with a heat pump?
Yes, it is one of the most common switches. We remove the boiler, install the heat pump and, if needed, adapt the radiators. Since 1 January 2025, heating installations that come into service in the Balearics cannot use heating oil (Ley 10/2019). In a home you use yourself, the boiler you already have can keep running; if you let a house to tourists or run a hotel, you must replace it by 1 May 2030 (Ley 8/2012). If you live in the Balearics, the switch qualifies for the 70% grant.
What grants are there for heat pumps in the Balearics in 2026?
The Factor de Insularidad 2026‑2027 covers 70% of the eligible cost of an air-to-water heat pump, up to €25,000 per installation, for people resident in the Balearics, with applications until 28/02/2027. The unit must have a seasonal performance factor (SPF) above 2.5 and a monitoring system. If you pay tax in Spain as a resident, it is your main residence or a property you let out as a home, and the energy certificate issued afterwards improves enough, there is also an IRPF (Spanish income tax) deduction. Everything is set out under grants in the Balearic Islands.
Is a heat pump noisy? Will it bother the neighbours?
The outdoor unit has a fan and a compressor, like an air conditioner, and you can hear it. What matters is where it goes: away from bedroom windows, on anti-vibration mounts and not in a narrow courtyard that bounces the sound back. In flats and penthouses we also check what your community of owners allows. We decide the location with you before installing.
Is a heat pump worth it in a flat or without underfloor heating?
It can be, even just for hot water, instead of an electric or butane water heater. Without underfloor heating it works with suitable radiators or with fan coil units, which also cool. If you are planning a flat renovation in Mallorca, that is the best moment for underfloor heating. At the visit we check whether there is room for the outdoor unit.
