Solar panel grants in the Balearic Islands: how we help

In October 2026 no grants for solar panels in the Balearic Islands are open to private individuals: the Balearic government's Factor de Insularidad only covers businesses, public bodies, communities of owners and other organisations, not individuals or the self-employed. FOTOPAR 2027, the household solar grant, runs from 26 January to 30 April 2027. Today you can claim 45% of a battery's cost if you live in the Balearics and, if you pay tax in Spain as a resident, IRPF (Spanish income tax) deductions until 31/12/2026.

Grants change every few months and many quotes still advertise closed programmes. Before you sign anything, we check what you are entitled to, work out how much you could receive and submit the application for you.

  • Initial check: residence, type of property and work
  • How much you could receive, in euros, and when it is paid
  • Online application in your name, with your authorisation
  • Energy certificate before and after for the IRPF deduction
  • Invoices, payments and photos ready for the proof of work
  • Alert if a programme runs out of funds or changes its rules
  • If you are not entitled to any grant, we tell you beforehand
  • Free check, and the application included if we do the work

Step by step

How we handle your grant, step by step

First we check, then you sign.

Check which grants you are entitled to
  1. Check before you sign

With four questions we see which grants you are entitled to: residence, type of property, what you want to do and whether you have already started.

  2. How much and when

We tell you how much you could receive, how much you have to pay up front and what happens if the programme runs out of money.

  3. Application in your name

We submit the application online with your authorisation and send you the receipt with the date and time.

  4. Work and proof of work

We carry out the work within the grant deadline and prepare the invoices, payments, photos and report to justify it.

  5. If it is refused

We explain the reason and whether you can appeal. As the work is paid for beforehand, you already knew when you signed how much you would pay without the grant.

Good to know

The requirements for each grant in the Balearics, explained

What each programme requires, how much it pays and when you receive it. In all of them you pay first: the grant arrives after you have submitted proof of the work.

Factor de Insularidad 2026‑2027

For people resident in the Balearics: 70% of an air-to-water heat pump, up to €25,000 per installation, 45% of batteries and 70% of electric car charging points, up to €2,500. It does not cover air-to-air units, or solar panels for any individual, self-employed or not; businesses and communities of owners can apply for it for panels. Applications until 28/02/2027, first come, first served. Work from 1/1/2026 counts.

IRPF deductions until 31/12/2026

Solar panels: 10% of what you paid in 2026, maximum base €5,000 (20% in residential buildings). Energy improvements to your main residence or to a property you let out as a home: 20% or 40% (bases of €5,000 and €7,500), with an energy certificate before and after. They cannot be combined for the same installation, any subsidised amount is subtracted and cash payments do not count.

FOTOPAR 2027: solar panels for private individuals

For people resident in the Balearics: €600 per kWp up to 5 kWp and €420 per kWh of battery up to 30 kWh. Applications from 26/01 to 30/04/2027, first come, first served, with €2 million available. Only work done after you apply counts: don't start the work before.

If you don't live in the Balearics

The Factor de Insularidad and FOTOPAR require residence in the Balearic Islands, and the IRPF deductions only apply if you pay tax in Spain as a resident. If your house in Mallorca is a second home and you live elsewhere, you are normally not entitled to them. Reduced IVA (Spanish VAT) of 10% may still apply to the renovation of your home, if you meet its requirements. And even without grants, solar panels and heat pumps lower your energy costs: we work out the saving without counting on any grant.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about grants in the Balearic Islands

Can't find your question? Message us on WhatsApp and we will answer in Spanish, German or English.

When does FOTOPAR 2027 open?
The 2027 application period for FOTOPAR, the Balearic solar grant for households, runs from 26 January to 30 April 2027, or until the money runs out, according to the call published in BOIB (Balearic Official Gazette) no. 171 of 25 December 2025. For 2027 there is €2 million, allocated first come, first served. In 2026 there were more applications than funds and the Govern (the Balearic government) increased the budget. If you are interested, we can prepare the quote for your solar panels in Mallorca with you in time for 26 January.
Should I install solar panels now or wait for FOTOPAR 2027?
It depends on your case, and we work it out with you. If you pay tax in Spain as a resident and the system is finished and paid for by 31/12/2026, you deduct 10% (up to €500) or, on your main residence or a property you let out as a home, 40% (up to €3,000) if the energy certificate proves it. If you live in the Balearics, you can also apply for 45% of the battery. FOTOPAR 2027 pays €600 per kWp up to 5 kWp, but only what you install after applying counts, and only while money is left.
How much can I deduct from my IRPF for solar panels or a heat pump in 2026?
If you pay tax in Spain as a resident, for solar panels you deduct 10% of what you paid in 2026 with a maximum base of €5,000, that is, up to €500 off your IRPF (Spanish income tax). For work that improves the efficiency of your main residence or of a property you let out as a home, such as a heat pump, it is 20% or 40% with bases of €5,000 and €7,500, if the energy certificate issued afterwards proves it. You cannot apply both to the same installation, and cash payments do not count.
Can I start the work before applying for the grant?
It depends on the programme. With FOTOPAR 2027, no: only work done from the day you submit the application counts. With the Factor de Insularidad, work by private individuals from 1 January 2026 counts, but you are only paid if there is budget left when your application comes in. Before you start, we check with you what to apply for and when.
When is the grant paid, and do I have to pay up front?
Yes, you pay for the work first. The grant is paid once the installation is finished and justified with invoices, payments and photos. With the Factor de Insularidad, the Govern has six months to decide each application (three for FOTOPAR) and, if it does not reply, the application is deemed refused. That is why we work out with you how much you need to pay up front and what you would pay if the grant did not come through.
Are there grants for heat pumps in the Balearics in 2026?
Yes. The Factor de Insularidad covers 70% of the eligible cost of an air-to-water heat pump, up to €25,000 per installation, for people resident in the Balearics, with applications until 28/02/2027. New radiators, underfloor heating or fan coil units are included. If you pay tax in Spain as a resident and it is your main residence or a property you let out as a home, the IRPF efficiency deduction may also apply to the part you pay yourself. More under heat pumps in Mallorca.
Are there grants for new windows or home renovation in the Balearics in 2026?
There is currently no open regional grant for windows or renovations of private homes: the Next Generation 3 and 4 programmes (EU recovery funds), including the window grant, are closed. If you pay tax in Spain as a resident, you can use the 20% or 40% IRPF deduction on your main residence or on a property you let out as a home, if the windows and insulation improve its energy certificate. Reduced IVA (Spanish VAT) of 10% may also apply to the renovation, if you meet the requirements.
Am I entitled to grants if I don't live in Mallorca?
Normally, no. The Factor de Insularidad and FOTOPAR require residence in the Balearic Islands, and the IRPF deductions only apply to people who pay tax in Spain as residents. What may apply is reduced IVA of 10% on the renovation of your home, if you meet its requirements. If the property belongs to a company, different rules apply: we look at your case with you.
